CARE AND CLEANING
Keeping your Lena Cup clean is essential for your vaginal health as well as for prolonging the cup’s life. During your period, wash your cup with mild soap and warm water whenever emptying it. We advise that you boil your cup between periods*.
Inspect your cup often – if you notice any surface damage, please replace your cup immediately.
BEFORE USING YOUR LENA CUP FOR THE FIRST TIME
- Boil your Lena Cup*
- Wash your hands with mild soap and warm water
- Insert your cup following the instructional manual
*Immerse your Lena Cup in boiling water for 5-7 minutes at a time to sterilize it – try to keep your cup from touching the sides or bottom of the pot by using a pair of tongs to keep it steady and remove it from the boiling water. Let your Lena Cup cool down completely before use.
CARING FOR YOUR LENA CUP DURING YOUR PERIOD
You can clean your Lena Cup using any mild unscented, non antibacterial, water-based, natural if possible soap. Harsh chemicals can potentially compromise your cup’s composition and cause irritation when inserted. Antibacterial hand soaps (such as those in public restrooms) and heavy-duty facial cleansers should never be used to clean your cup.
STORING YOUR LENA CUP
Store your clean and dry cup in its original 100% cotton bag or any breathable container or bag. Do not store your cup in containers that do not allow for air to get in.
DISCOLORATION
Mild silicone discoloration is possible over the lifespan of your cup – mild to moderate discoloration does not affect the way the cup is performing but always inspect your cup for any visible surface or component damage. If your cup gets heavily discolored, we suggest that you replace it.
To avoid staining, rinse your cup with cold water before washing it with a mild soap and warm water.
